Rendezvous Definition

The term "rendezvous" had a special meaning in the days of the fur-trapping mountain men that explored the American West in the early 1800's. These rugged individualists were isolated and completely on their own for most of each year (much like many IH enthusiasts). Their "rendezvous" was the biggest event of the year. They would travel long distances once each year to meet with fellow trappers and the large trading companies to sell their year's accumulation of furs and to buy or trade for the supplies needed to survive for another year. Each year's "rendezvous" would last for several days. While the primary purpose was business, it was also a time to hear once-per-year news, eat, drink, sing, dance and compete in friendly games related to their craft.

IH owners who were orphaned and isolated for most of the year needed an opportunity to come together, exchange news and information, buy/sell/trade parts, supplies, and share fun fellowship with others of their own kind in just the same way.

It was for these same reasons that the IH Rendezvous came to be. The RMIHR Committee (RMIHR stands for Rocky Mountain International Harvester Rendezvous) was established in 1993 to host a *new* kind of IH Event -- one that consisted of more than merely shining up and lining up your IH vehicles. We crafted an event with more "seat time" with 4WD Rodeo games, a wild game cookout and guided trail trips.
