VEHICLE CLASSES

Here are some basic definitions of the classes. Each Trophy Category for the Show 'n Shine may have vehicles from the "STOCK", "MILD", "WILD" and "EXTREME" classes depending on the number of entries. For example: the SCOUT II (76-78) Trophy Catogory may have 5 entries in the Stock class, 6 entries in the Mild class, and so on.

These class definitions are listed only as guidelines (vehicles may be re-classified at the RMIHR commitee's discretion).

"SHOW"
Show vehicles are either unrestored originals or full restorations. They are preserved primarily for show and judging competitions.

"STOCK" (Street)
Stock should be vehicles used mainly for daily transportation, weekend use, or for some other specific purpose (other than shows or judged competitions) on a regular basis. This class is for restored or original unrestored vehicles that have not been modified in any way. They should have factory (stock) parts with allowable exceptions, such as radio, tires, battery, hoses, belts and other normal maintenance type items.

"MILD"
Mild modified vehicles do not meet the "Stock" criteria. Modifications to the vehicle should not be too extreme. This class would include engine upgrades, i.e. a 392 engine in a Scout.

"WILD"
Wild modified do not meet the "Stock" or "Mild" criteria and, although specialized for off-road or other purpose, are still "street-able". Vehicles can have up to four inches combined suspension and body lift, non-IH engine swaps, shackle reversal with stock springs, extended shackles or tilt front ends, for example.

"EXTREME"
Extreme modified vehicles do not meet the prior classes criteria and are highly modified for off-road (non-competitive) use. They are generally not "street-able". Vehicles can have over 4 inches of combined suspension and body lift, lowered suspensions, spring-over conversions, adjustable shocks, suspension disconnects, coil springs, rear steering or 1/4 elliptical suspensions, for example.

"CRAWLER"
Crawler vehicles do not meet the extreme class' criteria and are highly modified for off-road (non-competitive) use. These vehicles are typiccally not stree-able, althought they can be licensed. They are not practical for much of anything other than hard core rock crawling. Modifications can include, but are not limited to: larger axles, spring over, 1/4 elliptical, or four link and adjustable suspensions, hydraulic assist or full hyrdraulic steering, complete or partially tubed chassis and limited body panels. Combined body and suspension lift in excess of 8 inches. Tire size 37 inches and up.

"SPECIAL CLASSES"

Work/Commercial
This is the class for vehicles actually used as work trucks. Some previous entrants have been a Model 800 Scout converted and used for a mobile farrier (horse shoeing) business and a medium duty low profile truck which hauled in a trailer full of Scout parts for a vendor.

Competition
Obviously, this is the class for vehicles specifically built for various types of racing events
